Community Partnership & Outreach
GFNS has formed meaningful community partnerships designed to enhance each child’s learning and each family’s experience during their time with us.
GFNS uses a family-to-family approach to help Skane School students, siblings, and parents by providing them with essential items. The Skane School is a public preschool in Bridgeport servicing 300 students, 50% of whom have special needs. An overwhelming number of Skane families live in poverty, with no food to get the children through the weekends and no coats or boots to keep them warm. Some families live without furniture in their homes, without car seats, and without bus fare to get to around. GFNS collects food, clothing, diapers, pull-ups, highchairs, car seats, toys, etc. to help support the wonderful and grateful Skane School community.
GFNS has a special partnership that we hope will add lots of love, learning, and meaning, to your child’s life! The Residence is Westport’s new and only assisted living community, located just around the corner from GFNS! The Residence‘s Community Engagement Program strives to add to the rich life experiences that their residents have had, and GFNS is thrilled to play a part in that enrichment! The Residence Club offers Threes, Fours, and Fives students the opportunity to come together with older generations to enjoy festive celebrations and joint learning opportunities! Events take place during and after school, and are planned and organized with The Residence‘s Senior Reflections & Engagement Director. Parents/caretakers are invited to attend and join in the fun, and siblings are welcome!
